AKC Beginner Novice
Beginner Novice (BN) is an AKC optional titling class. This class is designed for the beginning handler who might want to try competitive obedience or the handler who is just looking to have some fun with their dog in a great class! The Beginner Novice class consists of four on-leash exercises (heeling with rally signs, figure 8, sit for exam, sit-stay) and one off-leash exercise (recall.) Through positive training techniques and games your dog will develop confidence and self control. Developing a sense of teamwork between dog and handler is the primary goal for this class. Prerequisite: Beginner course or equivalent. Dogs must be able to walk on a loose leash (heel) and know basic commands (come, sit, stay.) A 6 foot leash is required for competition.
